___Do you get a lot of exercise and try to stay in good physical shape? That is a good and valuable goal even if you don’t want to be a professional athlete!
___However, there is something even more valuable than being in good shape and that is leading a godly life. Becoming familiar with the truth of God’s word leads to godliness. Truly honorable, godly people show the "fruit of the Spirit" in their lives (Gal 5:22-23). These--what you might also call--"character traits" of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Such traits help us to be noticeably happier, stronger, more considerate and more godly.
___Furthermore, when we lead godly lives, not only is it easier for our family and friends to like us and get along better with us, it is even easier for our enemies--and opposing teams--to live in peace with us (Prov 16:7)!

2 Pet 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him . . .
Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
