___It’s great fun to pretend to be a beauty queen walking down a runway, isn’t it? But do you know what is more important than beauty? Love for God and obedience to God. When we are told in the Bible to "fear" the Lord, it is telling us to honor and obey the Lord. Living a godly, obedient life as a believer is what really makes us valuable as people. That kind of value--godliness--lasts much longer and brings much more happiness than mere beauty. Want to be valuable? Practice godliness!

Ps 103:17 . . . from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him . . .
Ps 119:1 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

[Note: Would you like a good example of a Christian beauty queen? Do your parents ever watch The 700 Club? Terry Meeuwsen Camburn is one of their key people. She became a Christian when she was 22. She had just sung at a Baptist college and a Christian student encouraged her to accept the Lord. Terry went on to become Miss America 1973.1]

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
